Variety. That's the goal of this list. Hopefully here you find some great inspiration as to what spaceships can be, and what they can look like. We all have our personal favorite styles. Hyper futuristic and clean curves, sharp edges, or low-tech industrial. Whether the ship looks like it was designed atom by atom by a hyper advanced civilization, or welded together by low paid stationers, enjoy!
White. Sleek. Bridging the gap between pleasure style vessels, and more utilitarian ones.
Now this is pod racing! Almost the complete opposite of a luxury pleasure ship. We're bare bones, and we're engines.
I remember when I first saw the UNSC Infinity in the Halo universe. Just wow.
Here we have a very mech feel. The colors and palette aren't accidently adding to this. The two tone look is perfect for the design. It almost looks old-school transformer-esque, but that may be me adding a bit too much.
This guy is beautiful; I love the dual spheres around each set of engines. They're such a clean design, it really makes me think about all the less ‘beautiful’ things on the ship. The title is Explorer, so some could naturally be part of that purpose. I do, however, tend to see the larger group towards the front as potentially meaning that the current owner of the ship is not the original, and it's being re-purposed a bit.
The curves! Describing it as soft looking is going too far, but just barely.
A much more blocky design. Some red so it doesn't look too friendly or welcoming.
I enjoy this one comes across almost a little messy. It doesn't feel like something that was built according to a blueprint, but rather something that became what it is over time.
This one reminds me a lot of the Gallente Federation from Eve Online. An advanced but very practical ship.
A nice lower tech ship. What could be in the not too distant future.
There's a lot here; and TONS more if you head over to the author's page for this content. I've picked my favorite set and shown it here, but you might have a different favorite.
I'm a big fan of the palette here - the white and soft blue/teal. I also really like bubbles on spaceships.
Ships that are grown are so cool. Normally I think of some sort of wood-equivalent that can survive in the vacuum of space. Less often do I consider ships that are more fleshy than that.
The combination of elements here is really amazing. You have a pilot, a mechanical looking weapon, and the ship itself has a section that looks like a human-ish lower-body and legs. It really makes for a lot of possibilities as to how this ship came to be.
Ahhh. Starcraft. This is a really neat re-imagining of the science vessel.
A look so simple it's very advanced. Shapes and patterns that convey a sense of material mastery beyond that of most civilizations.
If you frequently look up spaceship designs, you can probably instantly recognize the author of this one. Elias has a very particular and vibrant use of colors in his designs.
Out of all the designs and shapes that make me go wow, it's funny to think that something so flat does it here; but I'm completely happy to put this design on the list. The asymmetrical aspect does help quite a bit too.
You know space whales are a thing right? Of course you do! I appreciate that this one is a more mechanical take on that classic sci fi trope.
